We know you know

getting tested is important

But did you know that there were 1.7 million cases of chlamydia, 555,608 cases of gonorrhea, and 30,644 cases of syphilis in the U.S. in 2017?

If left untreated, some STIs can cause*:

  • Increased risk of giving or getting HIV
  • Inability to get pregnant or pregnancy complications
  • Long-term pelvic or abdominal pain
  • Cancer
Number of STIs diagnosed since January 1st, 2019:

    Cases per 100,000 people

    The craziest thing?

Most people who have STIs don’t know it because many infections don’t have any symptoms or can take years to develop symptoms. Being tested for STIs is the only way to be sure whether or not you have one.

    The good news?

Even though STIs are on the rise, many are curable and all are treatable.

    What else should I know?

    • Chlamydia is the most commonly reported STI
    • Gonorrhea can infect the throat, genitals, and rectum
    • Trichomoniasis infection can increase the risk of getting other STIs
    • Syphilis can spread to the brain and nervous system if left untreated
    • HIV can be treated with antiretroviral therapy (ART)
    • HPV will infect nearly all sexually active people at some point in their lives
